Duchy Trachtenberg Announces for Re-Election with Strong Endorsement from Ike Leggett
“I want to see her on the County Council. I want her leadership, her commitment, her tenacity, her intelligence. But most importantly we need a person who cares about all of us,” said Leggett.
More than 150 people attended the event Tuesday night at the historic Strathmore Mansion, including five of Duchy’s colleagues on the County Council, President Nancy Floreen and councilmembers Phil Andrews, Roger Berliner, Marc Elrich and Valerie Ervin.
Leggett said the county government needs Trachtenberg’s leadership as chair of the Management and Fiscal Policy Committee now more than ever because she will make the right decisions for all the citizens and because she is someone who understands the issues so thoroughly that she can stand by his side when he goes to Wall Street to defend the county’s Triple A bond rating.
“She understands. She gets it,” said Leggett.
“This is not the time for on-the-job training,” Leggett continued. “We need the best minds and the strongest leadership and people who are prepared to do what is right for Montgomery County regardless of the political consequences. And this is what we have in Duchy Trachtenberg. We cannot make a mistake because the challenges are too difficult.”
